In order to solve the problem of lacking places in student dorms in Nis, the project was to be elaborated for the housing of 400 students at the site of Technical faculties’ campus. The aim was to adequately integrate the dorm structure into the existing civil housing surrounding and faculty neighborhood and therefore achieve development of the whole area in the future.
To solve the problem of lacking places in student dorms in Nis, the project was to be elaborated for the housing of 400 students at the site of Technical faculties’ campus. By adding the axis of the existing housing with the new one, an urban interpolation was created.
The new dorm consists of different commercial, cultural, medical and other contents which are lacking in the area and therefore enables students and residents of the housing complex nearby better social life and integration. The materialization of the facade is conceived through the use of wooden panels in two different warm colors that change through the facade planes.
As you move toward the midpoint axis of the student dormitory, it takes you to a gathering place for both students and dwellers of the surrounding housing blocks.
In conclusion
In this projects, the dwellers of the area are encouraged to engage further into social life within their environment and the sustainable aspect of the built environment for the whole area perspective is achieved for the future wellbeing of the urban district.
